Seven Key Principles of the Annapolis Tax & Spend Crowd

In my years in Annapolis, I have learned that the "Tax and Spend Crowd" subscribe to seven basic tenets concerning your money and how it is spent. And none of them allow you to be part of the process.

Seven Key Principles of the Annapolis Tax & Spend Crowd

1. Annapolis knows better than you when it comes to spending your hard earned money.
2. More money spent on government programs means better results no matter how that money is spent.
3. Maryland is one of the wealthiest states in the country and therefore its citizens can afford to pay whatever tax burden the Annapolis Tax and Spend Crowd says is fair.
4. Businesses and their employess are lucky to be in Maryland and therefore should pay high taxes for the priviledge of being here.
5. When talking about new taxes, ignore or diminish the significance of taxes currently being paid.
6. Federal funds for government programs are considered "free", ignoring the fact that Marylanders pay Federal taxes.
7. Promise a specific benefit from a new or increased tax that motivates special interest groups to support it, but fail to disclose it is virtually impossible in Maryland to guarantee that specific taxes will only be used for a specific purpose

I stand against these seven basic tenets of the tax and spend crowd.
